Before and after bilateral delayed breast implant reconstruction in a 51-year-old breast cancer survivor. She was not ready for breast reconstruction at the time of her breast cancer treatment. She was finally ready to have reconstruction, and at the same time, her Mommy Makeover!
Her goal was to be reconstructed as full as she was during breastfeeding several years previously. Smooth round permanent postoperatively adjustable saline-filled breast implants were placed on top of the chest muscle, in the prepectoral position. They were fully inflated over the first three weeks after surgery.
They remained in place for six months to ensure our patient was happy with the final implant size. In a second procedure, the saline implants were exchanged for silicone. She later had three-dimensional nipple and areola tattooing to complete her reconstruction.
Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery. She feels very comfortable in her skin and is very happy she decided to go ahead with breast reconstruction!
