Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 30-year-old woman. Her nipples were pointing to the floor, and her breasts had assumed a long, pendulous shape due to weight fluctuations, time and gravity. She was planning her wedding and wanted to be able to wear a strapless wedding dress without an industrial strength bra!
A breast reduction removed excess heavy breast tissue from the bottom of her breasts but kept a proportional volume of breast tissue behind so that she remained in proportion to the rest of her body. An auto-augmentation mastopexy lifted and reshaped her breast tissue to sit higher up on her chest and to have a rounder shape.
Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls. After surgery, she began scar therapy at two months postop, when all her scabs were gone and all incisions completely closed. She gave herself a full year to heal before her wedding date.
Follow up photos are shown 18 months after surgery. Her wedding was a dream, and she felt comfortable dancing into the evening (without a bra!).
