Before and after bilateral breast reduction and lift in a 44-year-old woman. Her breasts were extremely heavy and large compared to the rest of her body – they caused chronic pain in her upper back, neck and shoulders.
A breast reduction removed over a kilogram (two and half pounds) of breast tissue from each breast. Her remaining breast tissue was lifted and reshaped to a more round and shapely form. Liposuction removed excess fat from her bra rolls and armpits (the axillary rolls).
Long-term follow up photos are shown nearly 9 years after surgery, with a final result that has endured menopause and weight fluctuations. Her scars are still dark, which is very common for African American patients with a lot of melanin, the skin pigment.
