Before and after breast reduction in a 19 year old woman. Her oversized breasts were negatively affecting her quality of life.
A breast reduction removed much of her breast tissue and reshaped her breasts to a smaller and perkier form. Liposuction removed fat permanently from her bra roll, upper back and armpit region.
Early follow up photos are shown just 4 months after surgery. At this point, her body is depositing immature collagen that results in pink or red, raised scars – this is a normal early stage of scar formation.
Scar therapy involved applying a medical grade scar gel that contains silicone and SPF 30 sun protection. We teach all our patients about scar therapy when their wounds are closed and they have begun to deposit immature collagen (often at week 6-8 after surgery).
Her scars will take at least a full year to mature, and to flatten, fade and lose their red color as the blood vessels recede. She already feels so much more comfortable in her skin and is finally able to exercise without pain!
