Before and after bilateral reduction mammoplasty in a 24 year old woman. Her breasts were heavy, painful and pendulous. She had excess fat in her back fat/bra roll region that contributed to a matronly look. Her nipples and areolas were enlarged and hung near the bottom of her breasts.
A breast reduction removed much of her heavy, hanging breast tissue and reshaped the remainder of her breasts, creating a perkier and more youthful look.
Her areola diameter was reduced, and a reliable anatomic connection was maintained to the nipple to preserve breast feeding ability and erogenous sensation to the nipples. Liposuction of the axillary rolls permanently removed fat from the sides of her breasts, upper back and armpit regions.
Follow up photos are shown 8 weeks after surgery. She is now starting scar therapy and her firm swelling on the sides of the breasts, known as edema, is starting to resolve.
