Before and after breast reduction in a 17 year old young teenager. Her breasts were completely out of proportion to her small frame. She had been thinking about reducing the size of her breasts since she reached puberty at 11 years of age!
A breast reduction removed much of the heavy and dense breast tissue from the bottom of her breasts but maintained a good connection with the nipple and areola to preserve future breast feeding ability and recovery of erogenous sensation to the nipple.
Early follow up photos are shown at 6 months after surgery. Firm swelling is still going down. Teenagers tend to overproduce collagen, making thicker and redder and raised hypertrophic scars. Teenage scars can take up to two years to fully mature (compared to a year for older patients after surgery).
