Before and after bilateral breast reduction and liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 22-year-old woman. Her large, heavy breasts limited her from exercising the way she wanted, wearing the tops that other young women could and made shopping for dresses and bathing suits an upsetting and frustrating experience.
Although she had not yet developed significant drooping of her breasts, she knew her future as her mother, aunts and grandmother all had similar anatomy to her and their enlarged breasts now touched their navel due to loss of tissue elasticity and droop over years (wearing a bra does not prevent breasts from developing ptosis, or droop).
A breast reduction removed five hundred grams of breast tissue (over a pound) from each side. The breasts contained extraordinarily little fat (usually breasts contain a combination of breast tissue and fat) and nearly all thick, heavy breast tissue, known as macromastia. Her breasts were reshaped and lifted up higher on her chest using the auto-augmentation technique. Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpit region.
Long-term follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery, with nearly mature scars and a proportional, natural looking result!
