Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction by the auto-augmentation breast reduction and lift technique with liposuction of the axillary rolls in a 62-year-old woman. She had been treated for breast cancer with a right partial mastectomy, radiation therapy and chemotherapy (note the chemo port chest scar), resulting in breast asymmetry and a misshapen right breast.
She wanted her breasts to be slightly smaller and more symmetric. A small breast reduction was performed on the right side, with local tissue rearrangement, relocating the breast tissue into a pocket higher up on the chest and creating a more round and perky shape.
A balancing breast reduction and lift was performed on the left, removing slightly more tissue than the right side to make the breasts closer to one another in size. Liposuction removed nearly a liter of excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls.
Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. Note that the right radiated breast is a little higher up with lighter scars than the left non-radiated breast – this is expected after radiation therapy. Her left breast scars will gradually fade over the next year.
