Before and after breast reconstruction by breast reduction and lift in a 44 year old breast cancer survivor. Her past lumpectomy and radiation treatment resulted in a right breast that was smaller and sat higher up on her chest than the left. Bras did not fit correctly and she felt very lopsided. Her breast asymmetry was a constant reminder of her breast cancer history.
Her reconstruction involved a breast lift on the right, a breast reduction and lift on the left and aggressive liposuction of the bra roll and armpit areas (axillary rolls). Liposuction is an amazing surgical tool that is added to nearly every breast procedure in our office to achieve the most aesthetically pleasing results.
Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. As expected, the radiated breast still sits slightly higher and is firmer than the non-radiated side. That is a consequence of radiation. The left breast will sit a little lower and be softer, but she has greatly improved symmetry.
