Before and after breast reconstruction by local tissue rearrangement in a 62 year old woman. She had a previous augmentation and lift, and a breast cancer on the outside of her left breast that involved skin (see the preoperative markings).
She required excision of the tumor and some skin as a lumpectomy, with possible excision of her nipple (note the question mark on the markings). She no longer wanted her breast implants and wanted the most natural reconstruction possible.
Her implants were removed, and all scar tissue around the implants excised in a bilateral capsulectomy. The breast cancer surgeon removed the lump and surrounding skin, and a local tissue rearrangement filled the hole and reconstructed her breasts.
A small amount of breast tissue was removed from the right breast so that the final breast sizes would match. Liposuction of her axillary rolls completed the reconstruction.
Follow up photos are shown at 6 months after surgery. Fortunately, her nipple was preserved and she has good symmetry.
