Before and after breast reduction and lift in a 20 year old woman. She had pendulous, asymmetric breasts that did not match her age. She wanted her breasts “to look like a 20 year old!”
A breast reduction removed some excess heavy breast tissue and evened out her breast size. A lift (mastopexy) reshaped her breasts and lifted her nipples, while at the same time reducing her areola diameter. Liposuction removed excess fat from her axillary rolls and the bra roll region.
Long term follow up photos are shown a year and half after surgery. Note her nipple piercing has rotated to be on an angle from the rotation of the blood supply (vascular pedicle) to her nipple. This doesn’t bother her, and she is considering removing her other piercing after one side fell out recently.
For some reason, teenagers’ scars take longer to fade. They develop thicker collagen that can be red, raised or itchy and take longer to mature than older peoples’ scars. As a 20 year old, this patient’s scars did take longer than average to mature. They are nearly completely mature, and she feels very comfortable undressing in front of others now.
