Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction by the breast reduction and lift (auto-augmentation method) in a 52-year-old breast cancer survivor. After a right lumpectomy and radiation, she had breast asymmetry and deformity due to her cancer treatment. Her goal was for improved breast symmetry and a lift of both breasts.
A right local tissue rearrangement reshaped the right radiated breast and helped to correct the deformity left from her lumpectomy and radiation. A left balancing breast reduction and lift created better balance between the breasts and a more symmetric size.
Liposuction removed excess fat from her armpits and bra rolls to complete the breast revision procedure and correct the armpit deformity on the right side. After surgery, she took a month off work, practiced self-care and resumed full exercise at six weeks.
Follow up photos are shown 9 months after surgery. The right radiated breast will always be a little smaller, higher and firmer than the left non-radiated side, but her breasts look more symmetric, and she expresses gratitude for this breast reconstruction option!
