Before and after bilateral breast augmentation in a 33-year-old woman with relatively small breasts compared to her frame and congenital breast asymmetry, with the left breast being slightly larger than the right. Her goals were to have much fuller breasts but to still look natural and to have improved breast symmetry.
Smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. She also had a large accessory nipple under her right breast that she wanted removed – it was excised during her surgery. After surgery, she took a week off work and a full three weeks off exercise.
Her drains were removed at her first postoperative visit, and she was taught implant massage at two weeks postop. Scar therapy began at one month postop and continued for a total of six months, when her scars became flatter and more pale.
Follow up photos are shown 8 months after surgery. She has achieved her goals; her nerves have woken up and she no longer feels her implants – she feels “normal”!
