Before and after bilateral mastopexy and augmentation in a 27-year-old woman who had lost a significant amount of weight, resulting in deflated and floppy breasts devoid of a natural breast shape. She wanted to restore her previous breast fullness and feel better about her chest contour. She was self-conscious while dating and always wore padding in her bras, even while exercising.
Smooth round silicone gel breast implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position. A breast lift elevated the location of her nipples and removed excess skin from the lower pole of her breasts.
After surgery, she took three weeks off work and a full month off exercise, continuing light walks that did not cause heartrate elevation. It is important to not overdo activity after surgery to lessen the risk of bleeding, excessive bruising and prolonged swelling.
Early follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. She is actively applying our recommended scar gel and has started scar massage – collectively known as “scar therapy,” which she will continue until her scars are faded and flat. The process of scar maturation often takes a year or longer.
