Before and after bilateral breast reconstruction using smooth round silicone gel breast implants in a 50-year-old woman. She had previously overcome breast cancer with two right breast lumpectomies and radiation therapy. She had obvious breast asymmetry and deflation of her natural breast volume after weight loss and years of breastfeeding.
Her reconstruction involved bilateral breast augmentation with smooth round silicone gel breast implants. A larger implant was placed on the right than the left to equalize the breast volumes. Both implants were placed on top of the muscle, in the subglandular position.
Follow up photos are shown 3 months after surgery. Her left unradiated breast will always sit a little lower than the right radiated breast, and there is still evidence of her right lateral lumpectomy defect, but she has greatly improved breast symmetry.
