Before and after umbilicoplasty (navel or belly button correction) in a 29 year old woman. Her belly button was stretched from a past navel piercing and pregnancy, with rectus diastasis creating a hollow around her navel that distorted its appearance.
An umbilicoplasty repaired her belly button and created a more normal appearance to her navel. This involved repairing the separation of her abdominal muscles back together in the midline.
She did not need a full tummy tuck; only a focused rectus fascial plication right under the belly button. This was done by an incision around her navel.
The large circle surrounding her navel was converted to a smaller opening with a small vertical scar underneath. This type of repair is called a “V to Y closure”.
Follow up photos are shown at a year and a half after surgery. She no longer feels self-conscious about her belly button and she loves the results of the liposuction she had at the same time!
