Before and after umbilicoplasty in a 39 year old woman. As part of her Mommy Makeover, she wanted to improve the appearance of her belly button. She didn’t like the bulge and distorted center of her navel. This occurs due to separation of the rectus abdominis muscles after pregnancy. In her case, she did not need a full tummy tuck – only repair of the muscles directly under the umbilicus.
An incision was made around the periphery of the navel. The muscles were repaired together in the region of the belly button, which corrected the bulge. Follow up photos are shown two months after surgery.
