Before and after ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL) in a 30 year old man. He was in good physical shape and very body conscious. He had residual fat in his abdomen and flanks that was resistant to diet and exercise.
In men, fat tends to be more firm and fibrous and often requires ultrasound energy to adequately remove it. Ultrasonic liposuction removed fat from his upper and lower abdomen and flanks (love handles) circumferentially.
Very early follow up photos are shown just 4 weeks after surgery. He has visible swelling and discoloration of his skin, particularly in his flank area seen from behind. He is still wearing his compression garment, evidence by folds visible on his skin from firm, woody swelling (edema).
This edema will gradually resolve over the next 3-6 months.
