Before and after ultrasonic liposuction (UAL) of the abdomen and flanks in a 57 year old man. He was tall and thin, but after he went through “MAN-opause”, with a related drop in naturally produced testosterone, he discovered he had accumulated an unwanted layer of fat in his midsection.
Ultrasound assisted liposuction removed this stubborn fat through tiny incisions hidden in skin creases. Postoperatively, he wore a compression garment under his clothes for 3 months.
Follow up photos are shown three and a half months after surgery. He still has firm areas of swelling and skin creases accentuated by edema (fluid congestion of tissue after surgery). He understands it will take 9 months, up to a full year for all edema to gradually resorb.
