Before and after liposuction of the body in a 37 year old woman. While she wasn’t morbidly obese, she was not the typical liposuction candidate.
We usually recommend that patients are as close as possible to their ideal weight before they undergo full body liposuction. However, Plastic Surgery is never a one-size-fits-all procedure. We get to know each of our patients individually in detail, and try to help them find the best solution for them.
This patient had already lost 30 pounds and had hit a plateau in her fat reduction progress. She was losing steam and motivation and felt that a body contouring procedure such as liposuction would help her stay motivated and continue to work toward her weight loss and physical fitness goals.
Liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, back, pubic region and axillary rolls was performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Postoperatively, she wore compression garments under her clothes for three months and took a week off work. She resumed exercise when her bruising was gone, which was at three weeks.
Early follow up photos are shown 5 months after surgery. She is seeing progress as the swelling and firm areas called edema continue to slowly resorb. She will be able to appreciate her final results by one year.
