Before and after liposuction of the back in a 57 year old woman. She was planning to improve this area of her back at the same time as her breast reduction. She had a nickname for her back rolls that likened them to multiple breasts on her back – she was over them and wanted them gone!
Liposuction of the back removed over a liter of fat and significantly debulked her back fat rolls. Since she is dark skinned, she knew her bruised areas would take several months to fade from their darker color. This is called “post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation”.
Early follow up photos are shown two months after surgery. She still has firm areas of swelling called “edema” that will take another 2-4 months to completely resolve. Her skin color will even out with time and sun avoidance.
She loves her back now and cannot wait to wear swim suits and backless dresses this summer! She is so thrilled she finally went ahead with surgery and like many of our patients; she asks herself “why did I wait so long?”
