Before and after post-weight loss liposuction of the body in a 67-year-old woman who had lost over two hundred pounds after invasive weight loss surgery. After having a brachioplasty, and a breast lift, she wanted to remove as much fat as possible from her torso before having excisional body contouring – an abdominoplasty and inner thigh lift.
Although she was given the option to have an abdominoplasty at the same time as liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, she was nervous about the tummy tuck recovery and wanted to get more fit, which she felt she could do more easily without her “big belly rolls” (her terminology).
Liposuction removed excess fat from her upper and lower abdomen, flanks, pubic region and upper inner thighs. After surgery, she wore compression garments for a full three months to help her skin contract to its new form.
Follow up photos are shown 2 years after surgery. She had lost more weight and actually ran a 10K race! In many formerly morbidly obese patients, the skin is stretched beyond its capacity to full contract – therefore, skin removal is necessary to further contour the body. She is next planning her abdominoplasty followed by a medial thigh lift to complete her post-weight loss body contouring. Her recovery will be even easier for her, now that she has a good level of physical fitness!
