Before and after “mini-abdominoplasty” in a 43 year old mother of three. What bothered her most was her lower abdominal “apron” of hanging skin and fat after that three pregnancies left her with. She could not get rid of it despite working with a personal trainer, adhering to a strict paleo diet and working her butt off for over three years!

Since the lower abdominal area was what really bothered her and she wanted to avoid the increased downtime of a full abdominoplasty, she was a good candidate for a mini-abdominoplasty. “Mini” anything usually means the full procedure is not being performed. In this case, the muscles were not repaired to one another in the midline. What was planned was excision of the skin/fat apron, pulling her lower abdominal tissue downwards and aggressive liposuction.

Her procedure removed a large segment of lower abdominal skin and fat – see the final photographs for her actual tissue removed! The belly button position was not changes. Liposuction permanently removed residual fat from her upper and lower abdomen, flanks, pubic region and upper inner thighs.

Follow up photos are shown just two months after surgery. She still has post-surgical swelling but already is appreciating her new figure and abdominal form. She appreciated not having drains and the increased downtime from rectus fascial plication. Over the next several months residual swelling will continue to resolve and her scars will fade even more.
