Before and after abdominoplasty in a 35 year old mother of four. Although she was fairly thin and did not have a much extra fat, this patient had significant rectus diastasis (separation of the rectus abdominis muscles) and loss of her abdominal wall strength and function.
A tummy tuck repaired her abdominal muscles back together in the midline, removed most of her lower abdominal stretch marks, and tightened her tummy to a more flat and proportional contour.
She is now able to do Pilates without discomfort and “feeling like my insides are falling out”. She feels like the active, fit and youthful Mom she actually is!
Follow up photos are shown at 8 months postoperatively. Her incisions are still maturing – note the pink hue around many of them that represents increased blood circulation during healing. The scars will fade further to a paler color as the blood vessels recede over the next several months of scar maturation.
