Before and after abdominoplasty with liposuction in a 69-year-old woman. At the same time as a breast procedure, she wished to improve the contour of her abdomen. She was fit, active and extremely healthy – even for someone turning seventy in a few months! Her abdomen had a vertical scar from a past emergency surgery that created additional deformity.
A tummy tuck trimmed excess lower abdominal skin (including the old scar) and repaired her abdominal muscles together in the midline. After four previous pregnancies, she had lost her former strong muscular core. Repair of the rectus diastasis corrected this, permanently! Liposuction removed excess fat from her abdomen, anterior flanks and pubic region.
Follow up photos are shown 6 months after surgery. Her scars look fantastic – one result of having surgery at an older age. Less collagen is produced, resulting in nicer-looking (but slightly weaker) scars.
