Before and after mini-abdominoplasty (no muscle repair) and liposuction of the abdomen and inner thighs in a 50-year-old mother. After having her children via C-sections, she developed a “shelf” of lower abdominal skin and excess fat that hung over the top of her scar and a droopy mons pubis.
She also had an unusual accumulation of fat in her upper inner thighs that caused her pants to rub together and wear out in this area quickly; she felt embarrassed to wear shorts due to the “lipodystrophy” (excess fat deposits).
Skin and fat was surgically excised from her lower abdomen, redoing her lower abdominal scar and removing her “pooch.” This achieved a lift of her pubic region, sometimes called a “monsplasty.”
Fat was suctioned from her abdomen, pubic region and upper inner thighs, removing a full liter of excess fat. Her lower abdominal tissue was pulled downward, tightening her abdominal wall and slightly lengthening her former C-section scar.
After surgery, she wore compression garments for several months under her clothes to limit edema (firm swelling), help her skin mold to its new form and encourage her final results to become evident.
Follow up photos are shown a year and a half after surgery. The last image shows the tissue that was removed, which weighed a full pound. Her scars are mature, and she has her final results. And she now wears shorts all the time!
