Before and after abdominoplasty and liposuction of the abdomen and flanks in a 61-year-old woman. Together with a ventral hernia repair procedure by her General Surgeon, she wanted to improve the appearance and contour of her abdomen.
Plastic Surgery markings for a tummy tuck were drawn before surgery, and her anterior abdominal wall was elevated off her abdominal wall fascia in a standard abdominoplasty fashion to reveal three small ventral hernias, which were repaired by the General Surgeon with suturing and mesh. The rectus abdominis muscles were repaired to one another over the mesh in standard fashion to further support the hernia repair.
Her abdominal wall skin was stretched downward, and her belly button was brought out through a new skin opening. Liposuction removed excess fat from her upper and lower abdomen, flanks, pubic region and upper inner thighs.
Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery. By strategically removing fat from her flanks above her buttocks, it gives the appearance of a buttock lift – but that is all her!
