Before and after abdominoplasty and liposuction of the abdomen and flanks in a 42-year-old woman who not only had children but had also lost 130 pounds after gastric bypass surgery. Her goal was to have a flatter tummy and less fat in her midsection. A tummy tuck with circumferential liposuction was the best option to help her reach her goals.
Abdominoplasty surgery surgically removes excess fat from the lower abdomen, repairs the muscles back together in the midline (stretched from pregnancies and previous morbid obesity), insets the belly button higher up on the abdominal wall (like bringing a button through a buttonhole) and reduces excess fat from the trunk region.
Post-weight loss body contouring surgery should be postponed until a new stable weight has been achieved for 1-2 years. Nutrition should be optimized and patients should be as physically fit a possible before surgery.
Follow up photos are shown 1 year after surgery. She loves her new body!
