Before and after post-weight loss abdominoplasty and body contouring in a 33 year old man. After losing nearly 250 pounds, he had hanging lower abdominal skin and residual stigmata of his former morbidly obese self. He was committed to staying healthy and active and found it difficult to exercise with this excess abdominal tissue.

An abdominoplasty removed over 3 kilograms (nearly 7 pounds) of excess skin and fat, as shown in the last image. Excess fat was also excised from his pubic region to create a more aesthetic pubic region (monsplasty) – seen in the last image of this series.

His stretched apart rectus abdominis muscles (rectus diastasis) were repaired from his xiphoid process above to his public bone below, via rectus fascial plication. Liposuction removed an additional 5 liters of fat from his upper abdomen, central belly region, flanks circumferentially, upper inner thighs and back.

Follow up photos are shown 9 months after surgery. His scars are fading and he is actively doing scar therapy. He still has some firm areas of swelling called edema that will continue to take several months to soften. The last photo shows the actual tissue that was surgically excised from his abdomen!
