Before and after abdominoplasty in a 37 year old mother. Her abdomen had bounced back pretty well after her first pregnancy, but her second very big baby caused severe separation of her abdominal muscles, known as “rectus diastasis”. She was tired of being congratulated on her pregnancy, given that her youngest child was now 5!
A tummy tuck removed some excess lower abdominal skin. Her rectus abdominis muscles were repaired to one another in the midline, extending from the xiphoid process above to her pubic bone below. Her abdominal skin was redraped firmly downwards, and liposuction of her abdomen, flanks and upper inner thighs completed the procedure.
Follow up photos are shown three months after surgery. She feels like she has “a normal belly again” and is very happy with her decision to have an abdominoplasty!
