Her grandparents were World War II refugees from Estonia who immigrated to Canada. Dr. Horton’s father was a surgical oncologist and she grew up hearing about the time he spent in the Bay Area as an intern at the San Francisco Veteran Affairs Hospital. When she realized that Plastic Surgery was the ideal field, allowing her to combine art, math, and science, she accepted a fellowship in San Francisco. In the U.S., Dr. Horton was eager to pursue her “dream of being a private practice surgeon in control of her own destiny.”

How Dr. Horton Balances Career and Family

Anyone who gets to know Dr. Horton understands how important her family is to her. In this article, she explains the challenges that she faced before having her beautiful twin daughters.
