Mommy Makeover Recovery

resize-shutterstock_81717205Following a Mommy Makeover, recovery and downtime will depend on a number of different factors, including the particular treatments received as well as the patient’s natural healing process. Some procedures involve a significant amount of downtime, like a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty). These Moms will need help with their children nearly around the clock for at least three weeks, and a return to exercise can usually be achieved by six weeks. Other surgeries, such as a breast augmentation or liposuction, involve approximately a week off regular activities, with exercise and unrestricted activity being possible by three weeks, on average.

Non-surgical aesthetic treatments with Emily Sespaniak at Horton SPA typically have NO downtime! Procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, fillers, IPL photo-facials, or medical-grade peels truly are lunchtime treatments that can refresh a mother’s skin or brighten her look without downtime, and they can be done any time after pregnancy.

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical way to spot-reduce stubborn areas of fat with an FDA-approved, clinically studied fat-freezing machine that can reduce a localized fat deposit up to 25% during a one-hour treatment. While the results of CoolSculpting® are less dramatic than liposuction, new Moms (and Dads!) can avoid the downtime associated with a more invasive surgical procedure and generally carry on with their daily activities the next day.

These are simply a few of the many procedures that can make up a Mommy Makeover. Based on each individual’s unique needs and goals, I try to combine my patients’ desired treatments to address complementary areas at the same time. This way, a single recovery is need as opposed to several periods of downtime, ultimately enabling my patients to heal and get back to their normal daily routines as quickly as possible.
